City of Edgerton Water Reports
Lead Information
INFORMATIONAL NOTICE
Through its regular water testing program, the City of Edgerton’s Water Utility has detected an exceedance of lead in its drinking water in three of the twenty homes from which the City collects water samples.
The City is working closely with the Department of Natural Resources to identify the source of the problem. The Utility has tested each of its three wells as required and has found no evidence of lead in the water being delivered to the distribution system. This indicates the problem is most likely coming from old lead joints, lead service lines, or in-home plumbing through old piping and fixtures. We are currently taking samples of the distribution system to further pin point the source. The brochure included in this mailing contains information regarding the risk of elevated lead levels as well as how to evaluate lead levels in your home.
For more information on reducing lead exposure around your home or building and the health effects of lead, visit the City of Edgerton’s website at www.cityofedgerton.com and EPA’s website at http://www.epa.gov/lead or contact your health care provider.
Please distribute this notice to any individuals who would benefit from knowing of the lead exceedance and agencies that could further distribute this information and education materials.
